Clue #13 - Don't worry this is a great block

Nothing to worry about with Clue #13 being bad luck.  Clue #13 is a modified Dogwood Wedge Star Block.  Don't get too relaxed, this is the last of our "easier" blocks!  I figured you all needed a easy block after last week's Block and Center construction!

Kaffe version

Starflower Christmas version

Today, I released Grand Central, which was originally a Mystery a couple of years ago.  I've added two additional sizes (smaller than the Mystery sizes) which brings the pattern to 6 Sizes.  Each size has a unique setting.  Be sure to check out the photos in my Etsy Shop.    This pattern utilizes the Wedge Star that we all love, plus features Snail's Trail block.  Three of the sizes include the Train Platform block, which makes for a terrific pieced Border.  So, if you missed that Mystery or are interested in the two new sizes, you can purchase the pattern from my Etsy Shop or ask for it at your local Quilt Shop.

While we are speaking about other Mystery, if you are interested, be sure to watch my Fabric Reveal for my next Mystery, Glorious Splendor, which will kick-off late February/early March.

There is a coupon code shared that will give you an additional 20% off the Early Bird pricing of the Clue and Class Membership..  The coupon is only good through Saturday, Nov 20th.  Early Bird pricing is only in effect through November 30th.  You can get details on my website or watch the video on Facebook or on YouTube

Since Clue #13 is a modified Dogwood Wedge Star block, let me just give you a few reminders.

Fabric Selection

I went with two new to the series fabrics for my Kaffe Selection.

One new fabric to the series for my Starflower Christmas version - Be sure to check you remnant back for the Light Snowflake fabric.  You should have enough to cut your Corner Triangles from your remnant.
We've been making the Diamond Wedge for a while, so just some photos to make sure you have the proper fabric in the proper place.

When pairing your Diamond Wedge with the Large Wedge make sure to make them the exact way each time.

Take you time when piecing your quarters into halves, you want a good 1/4" seam, to that your points are set back 1/4" in prep for the next seam.
Pinning will make a perfect center!

Then it is time to put your halves into a full hexagon.
Pinning will make that perfect center, take the time to precision pin.  You will be happy in the long run.

Remember we trim the unit that will be in the corners.  I nice easy trim this time, trim all (4) Diamond Wedges.

One corner gets the light fabric for the Corner Triangle.

Now time to trim!   Take your time and make sure all line are where they should be....  Measure twice and cut.

  Tada!  I love this block.

Don't forget to check out my new Mystery video and Grand Central.

Get ready for next week!  Have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Keep stitching,
Michelle
