In 2005, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted U2.  Their introduction stated, “Philanthropic.  Hopeful.  Committed.  U2 are proof of the power of music.  While U2 have experimented and evolved musically throughout their career, the core members and their commitment to positive change have remained steady.”   U2, a Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976.  The group consists of Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. Initially rooted in post-punk, U2's musical style evolved throughout it’s career, yet has maintained an anthemic quality built on Bono's expressive vocals and the Edge's chiming, effects-based guitar sounds.  Bono's lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal and sociopolitical themes.  It is theorized that the musical group U2 derived its name from a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft
