Wow!  It has been a busy couple of weeks!  Two weekends ago we had a fabulous Sleep in Your Bed Retreat at The Yankee Quilter .  We had 12 wonderful quilters, tons of laughs, and they put up with me being horribly sick.  We still had a blast and I look forward to the September Retreat. Last week, I lead 5 terrific classes at AQS Quiltweek in Lancaster.   I meet so many new-to-me quilters, many of whom are following along in my Sunset in the Sound Quilt Mystery.   Plus, many of you stopped by and said hello, it was great to see you all!  Thank you for the great support! March is here!  Week #9 of the Mystery is here!  We are revealing Clue #9!  What could be better? Okay, I may have a bit of Cabin Fever going on, but I'm always excited when we get to March, I know that Spring is around the corner, despite looking out to a snow covered lawn. Last weekend,  I completed the the Double size quilt top for the cover of Periwinkle Swirl.  Originally, I was going with a smaller size for the cover, but I love circular motion in the quilt, and I felt the Double Size could really show off the movement.  Now to quilt it, photograph and get the pattern to the printer in the next 2 weeks.  Along with Moonlight Garden!  Here is a sneak peak of Periwinkle Swirl!  Stephen's wingspan is only so wide, but I think you can see what I'm talking about.  I love this pattern.  I know all my testers loved it as well. While I'm having a blast teaching at AQS Quiltweek, in Paducah, I'm going to give a few of the "late to the series" folks a chance to download block 2 and the rest of you a week to catch-up! Block 14! Doris’ Delight, appeared in the Farm Journal and Farmer’s Wife , in 1941.  Doris’ Delight utilizes the same Peaky and Spike Units (aka V Block) as Grandma’s Delight (Block 13), to create fabulous star points which provides the block with a lot of movement.    Block 14 - Doris' Delight Doris’ Delight is very similar to The Eight Pointed Star, featured in Needlecraft , 1918, with the exception of the center.  Doris’ Delight features a Square-in-Square which give a little extra sparkle in the center.  In my research, I couldn’t find any one given credit for this block, however, I’m hoping a “Doris” was the creator.  Or, that Doris was someone special to the creator.  In any case, it is delightful.
