How is everyone doing?  I'm hanging in there.   Everyday,  I try and find at least one silver lining to this whole thing.  I joked earlier this week that at least I've used up all the unsalted butter in the house that always seems to multiple during the holiday shopping.  LOL!  I always pick up double the butter I need, since I never know if I have enough butter for baking.  But in all seriousness, there are positives out there, we just need to focus on those.   Like you, I have some good days and bad days.  With a lot of events continuing to get cancelled or postponed it is tough.  However, it is forcing me to attempted some more of my business stretch goals.   One of those stretch goals is to start hosting virtual and online classes . Happy Friday!  Another busy week, it  makes me think about how retired people always say they are busier after they retire.  I feel that now that I've grown accustomed to being at home, I've rearranged my time and filled it in with extra projects.  Most of those projects have been a long time coming and it is feels good to accomplish something.   Last weekend Stephen and I took on rearranging and organizing my Studio, Fabric Room, Office and the order processing area.  Wow, there were moments, I wasn't sure we were going to make it.  LOL!  I really do not need anymore fabric.  That said I received fabric from both Moda and Art Gallery this week.  Shhh!  Don't tell Steve...actually he is the one who brought the packages in, and now that we've straighten up, I actually have a place to put them.  It was a nice feeling.   Having everything organized really helped this week, as I've pulled some examples ...

It has been an exciting week!  Last weekend we wrapped up Spring Getaway 2019.  Then, Studio 180 Design revealed a new tool and now I'm one week closer to kicking-off my next Mystery Series, Holiday Extravaganza! First, let's talk about Spring Getaway 2019 !  It was a fantastic four days!  It was so nice to catch up with so many of you, in person, after a long winter.  The Lake Morey Resort was fantastic.  We had rain a few days, but who cares, any day you can wake up near water , are spending your day quilting and with people who love to quilt, it is a good day!  Lynn and I got to meet a few "new-to-us" quilters.  We laughed, we sewed, we had fun and made tons of progress!  Thank you to all the quilters who came and enjoyed.  Lynn and I greatly appreciate the support! Block 45, Brunswick Star, by Laura Wheeler, was published in Illinois Star , on April 20, 1933.    Block 45  ~ Brunswick Star ~ Michelle's Fabric Selection 1 This block is made up of a traditional Lemoyne Star, surrounded by four Flying Geese and anchored with four dark squares in the corners.   The Flying Geese give the block the illusion that Lemoyne Star is set on-point and within a cross.   This block would make an excellent one block quilt, with or without sashing and cornerstones, as it would create wonderful secondary designs.   This block comes together easily with the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star and Wing Clipper .   If you need a refresher on either techniques, you can check out Block 43's Blog Pos t for the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star and Block 4's Blog Post .  This week's download is available through Thursday, December 20th. Block 41 is Baton Rouge Block in my Timeless with a Twist Series! It was published in Ladies Art Company in 1922.  Block 41 ~ Baton Rouge Block ~ Michelle's Fabric Selection 1 This block is made up of Diamond Rectangles and Shaded four-patch units.   The Diamond Rects are made with dual-colored side triangles.  The block was also published as just "Baton Rouge", in 1934, by Nancy Page, in the Birmingham News.  However, this is not the Baton Rouge Square, that is a different block.  This block, the Baton Rouge Block, is a perfect block to use a large-scale print in the large center square. With its clean lines, this block would make a great alternate block, as it creates a fabulous secondary design, without stealing the staging from a main block.  Classic, elegant and timeless, just like its namesake the city of Baton Rouge.
