Mid Appalachian Quilters!

Mid Appalachian Star is the Block for Clue #4.  We will make (4) of them!  Mid Appalachian Star is dedicated to all the MAQers! Cheer and Merriment and Stitched Versions MAQ (Mid-Appalachian Quilters) is a fantastic event that takes place each July.  I taught there annually from 2014-2019. I missed it this last year as their new date presents a schedule problem.   It used to be held at Mount St. Mary in Emmitsburg, MD but moved to Gettysburg, PA in 2019.  I loved teaching at MAQ, many of the same quilters would return year after year.  Some great times have been had at their ice cream social and our evenings at the fountain.  Miss you all!

Clue #3 has us heading to Vermont!

Clue #3, is Vergennes Vista!  Make sure to read the entire post to get a sneak peak at an announcement! The third location I held a formal retreat was at the Strong House Inn, in Vergennes, VT. I was thrilled to be asked to teach at Quilting in Vermont. I remember my first retreat there like it was yesterday, when in fact it was over 8 years ago. I started off teaching one retreat a year in November. Over the years, we started gradually adding more retreats. Now I teach there in November, March, August, and next year September will be added. It’s one of the smaller, cozier retreats that I teach at and is limited to 12 retreaters.  We have tons of fun taking over the Inn. Quilting friends bloom over the years, with most of the retreaters coming back each year, and “checking in” with each other. I look forward to my Quilting in Vermont retreats and not just because of our trips to Daily Chocolate and Lulu’s Ice Cream Parlor.

It's time to visit Cocalico!

Clue #2 is Cocalico Star, in tribute to those who retreated with my at Cocalico Inn.  This is a fabulous block with a mirror image star inside of what may become a star... you will have to wait and see!  We are introducing the Wing Clipper to the series, which will have us making perfect Flying Geese! Both of my Fabric Selections - Moda's Cheer and Merriment and Stitched The Cocalico Inn was the second location that I held a formal retreat, in Lancaster County, PA. I held it there for 5+ years, and we had some great times. It’s another special place where quilt friendships were built sewing, sitting on the front porch or the back patio.   2017 Fun with Fundamentals at Cocalico Inn  Fabric Selection - You need four fabrics in addition to your Background.  It is important to review your fabric and select fabric that will work well, especially in the mirror image Star.  The Light, is a perfect spot to elect a fabric that is close in tone to your Background with some elements/small
