Johnny Cash Star is Clue #5

In 1992, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Johnny Cash and stated “Johnny Cash had all the qualities of a country legend: a rich life, a keen instinct for storytelling and an unflinching eye on the world around him.” It is said that Cash’s humble beginnings made him an authentic storyteller whose plainspoken narrative song spoke to the American everyman. He wrote songs prolifically but never carelessly. Each one of his songs seemed to capture a deeper truth and resonated with the working man. 12 years earlier, in 1980, Johnny Cash was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Johnny Cash had 13 #1 Billboard Country hits between the years 1956 and 1976, with 42 of his songs being featured on the Billboard Hot 100 list. “A Boy Named Sue” achieved the #2 spot and remained there for 12 weeks. “Ring of Fire”, my husband’s favorite, made it to the #17 spot and remained there for 13 weeks.
When designing this block, I was inspired by Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line” song. You’ll notice that the Popped Shaded 4-Patch Units create a line around the Ohio Star. “I Walk the Line”, was released in 1964 and was on his Studio Album, “I Walk the Line”. It reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Country List.

Unit B - Quarter Square Triangles
Unit C- Quarter Square Triangles - Light
Unit D- Popped Shaded 4-Patch Units -
This unit introduces a new Tool, the Corner Pop, and a new technique to the series. First, you will make your Shaded 4-Patch and then Pop with the Corner Pop. Take your time and make sure you are lining it up properly. Then, add the replacement triangle. Make sure to sew with the Shaded 4-Patch on top since that is your precision piece.
