In 1990, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the Four Tops, Abdul Fakir, Lawrence Payton, Levi Stubbs and Renaldo Benson.  Their introduction stated, “The only thing that can outlast the Four Tops’ lineup is their incredible body of work.  United by their friendship and a love of music, the Four Tops stuck together for forty years. Mix their classy, polished vocals with the brilliant songwriting of Holland-Dozier-Holland at Motown Records and you have an unstoppable hit machine”.

Founded as the “Four Aims”, the “Four Tops” remained together for over four decades, performing from 1953 until 1997 without a change in personnel.  Throughout their career, 24 of their singles reached the Billboard Top 40 with seven of them reaching the top ten and two of them reaching #1 on the chart.  Their two Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits were "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" in 1965 and "Reach Out I'll Be There" in 1966.  The group continued to have chart singles into the 1970s, including the million-seller "Ain't No Woman" (1973).

While designing this block, I reflected on the fact that the 4 original members remained together for over 40 years, only separating in death.  Therefore, I included Shaded 4-Patches to represent the 4 artists and friends.

Here is the fabric I selected:

Unit A - Half Square Triangle -
Unit B - Quarter Square Triangle
Unit C - Corner Beam
Unit D - Shaded 4-Patch - The new unit to the series

Take your time with this unit, it turns our fabulous, but you have to follow the steps. Take the time to press properly.  Especially the when marking your units.

These turn out so well.
Block Construction - Make sure to take your time when you lay out your Corner and Columns.

Lay out your Block and check your orientation.  Sew into rows and I would precision pin similar to last week.

How tada!

Love them and the Four Tops!  There are just too many songs to name!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Keep Stitching,
Michelle
