Alright, back to this Mystery -

Here is my fabric selection.  I used a lot of my favorite fabric, bridging a lot of different colors.

My Paisley Rose and Bermuda Batik selections

You may want to consider fussy cutting the center of your Square3 unit.

New Technique - The Split Corner Beam starts with a Half Square Triangle.  You will want to make that first and TRIM it to the proper size prior to cutting it into the Center Beam.  Note: you will want to press that seam open to reduce bulk in later steps.

Then you will sew it just like you sew your traditional Corner Beams.

Then it is time to trim it down, in addition to the normal line up, you will also check to make sure the HST seam line lines up with the center of those little "v"s.

So tada!

Ta Da!

You will also make Combination Unit Pairs, which we've made before.  Important reminder is to press one set toward the HST and the mirror image set toward the QSTs.

Next, we are going to make a Square³!  This is a Square-in-Square-in-Square!  Our Center Square, for the Square³ is not trimmed with the Square Squared.  We add the first round of Side Triangles, then we trim it down to the perfect Center.

Sew together before trimming.
This line up will take some time, but the goal is to get all the "hash" marks from the proper size on those corners of the just sewn Side Triangles.

Then, sew on the next round of Side Triangles.
Always putting the unit on top of the Side Triangles.

Then you will perform the final trim down.

How fabulous are these?
Block construction!  Let's sew the Combination Units together.
Press that seam open.
Be careful when you layout the block to ensure that you have it properly oriented.

I suggest precision pinning where the Combination Unit Pairs meet the Square³

Give everything a good press and follow the pressing instructions in the Clue.

Next sew the rows into the Block and again I suggest precision pinning the points.
So TADA!
