Clue #18 is Here!

Clue #18 is here!  Reveal time.  Thank you to all those who have had patience with me over the last two weeks as I recover from surgery and deal with some unexpected side effects.  Below, I share the reveal of Block #18 as well as the final quilt settings.  You have three to decide from Modern, Traditional, and Traditional with a Scrap Bonus Border.

Block #18 is Diamond 4-Patch Wedge Star

Next, I will go through tips to put Clue #18's Block together.

This week's Fabric Selection.

Take your time and cut your strips properly.
Similar to Clue #16, you will put your Diamond Strips together.

Once again, pressing open.
Similar to prior Clues, you will set your angle and sub cut.  Just pay attention to the orientation of the strips.  Right Handed Quilters will have the strips right side down.
Right Handed

While Left Handed Quilters will have the strips right sides up.
Left Handed
Be careful to lay out the sub cuts properly.

Lay out carefully.
Next, we are going to mark the 1/4" seam, just like in Clue #16.
Precision pin, it is really needed to get that perfect Diamond.
My Kaffe version.

Stitch those with your best 1/4" seam allowance and press these open.
Once again, you will need to mark your Tool, this time the Wedge Star Tool.
Then trim down the Outer Diamond.

Then, make your Diamond Wedges, similar to all the other Wedge Star Block you have made.

Make sure to trim that dog ear.

Then, they Wedges get a trim.
Right Handed

Left Handed
Put them together as pairs, be sure to pin the seam intersections, stitch with a good 1/4" seam and press open.
You need to trim the dog ears and a few whiskers to get that perfect 90 degree angle.
Right Handed

Left Handed
Stitch into Halves with pinning, a good seam, and pressing.
Stitch into Octagons with pinning, a good seam and pressing.

Trim every other Diamond Wedge to prepare to apply the Corner Triangles.
Sew on the Corner Triangles to the just trimmed Diamond Wedges.

Press toward the Corner Triangles.
Trim down to the perfect size.
Right Handed

Left Handed
Tada!  Clue #18's Block - Diamond 4-Patch Wedge Star

I will update this Blog post and add tips for putting the last of the Quilt Borders on by Thursday, December 30th.  Apologies, I find that I'm only able to do a small amount each day, but wanted to get the Clue released and tips for the Block released.
