In 1993, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Van Morrison and stated, “Consistent. Steadfast. Enigmatic. Van Morrison is an artist in the purest sense. Van Morrison’s body of work is one of outstanding quality and quantity. His songs are like the incantation of a mystic, bewitching listeners with intricate lyrics and that unforgettable voice.”
Sir George Van Morrison, known professionally as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter. In the early 1960s Van Morrison was part of the “Them” band prior to breaking out on his own in 1967. His first solo album was actually released without his knowing. He recorded 8 songs expecting them to be released as 4 singles, but his record company had other plans. One of those songs was “Brown Eyed Girl” which was later released as a single and made it to #10 on the US Billboard Chart. His most-played song, “Brown Eyed Girl”, remained on the top 40 charts for 16 weeks and it is considered his “signature” song. Considering all of Van Morrison’s 30 Top 40 Billboard hits, he spent a total of 790 weeks on the Billboard Chart throughout his career.
Of course, “Brown Eyed Girl” is my favorite and when designing this block, I used the Square-in-Square to represent the Brown eyes. “Brown Eyed Girl”, was released in 1967 on his “Blowin’ Your Mind” Album.
