Fabric Selection

We are getting down to only a few fabrics left, that haven't been used before.  So, you will notice I continue to shuffle to make the most of my pairs. 


My final selection for Clue #11

Cutting is straight forward this week.  Make sure you are staying organized.  We will need to start using our FQ remnants in Clue #13.  You want to make sure you have them labeled correctly.

Reminders and Tips on Construction
Just two units this week.  Diamond Triangle and 4-Patch Triangle

Make sure you are trimming the proper side when construction the 4-Patch Triangle
Right Handed above
Left Handed below


Make sure you are staying organized.

Half of you Unit A will have their bottom trimmed, while the other half will have their point trimmed.  

Similar to most Clues, you will put your Unit A and B together. 

Make sure to trim Unit B
Right Handed above
Left Handed below


When putting the top of the block together, be careful to make sure you have everything orientated correctly. 

I like to mark my 1/4" on the Diamond Triangles to precision pin. 

Pin, pin, pin!

Trim the dog ear in the way ....  See it..
Flip it... Pin it.. Sew it.


Love it.  Trim that dog ear. 

Lay out the Bottom of the Block.  Mark again and precision pinning is recommended.

Pinning really helps

Now it is time to put the top and bottom together.  I marked my Diamond Triangles earlier, if you didn't, you will want to for this step.

You can never have too many pins!

Quilt Block Mania - School Girl's Puzzle

I'm so existed I have a lot of fun information to share with you today.   A free Block and a new pattern series!  Plus, a new series of mini-online classes. Quilt Block Mania First, a couple weeks back, several quilt designers got together and decided we'd put together some FREE themed quilt blocks to share with all of you!    All of these blocks finish at 12″ x 12″.  You can download all the Blocks for free, or just your favorites.  This month theme is "Return to School", therefore I decided to make and share the School Girl's Puzzle. School Girl's Puzzle School Girl's Puzzle is made up of Half Square Triangles and utilizes four values of fabric plus Background.  Light, Light-Medium, Medium and Dark.  I've provided step-by-step instructions in my download.  It comes together easily with the help of the Studio 180 Design Tucker Trimmer I .    All of the designers are using the same color plan in their Blocks.    Therefore you could combine this quilt b

Atlantic Flyway Class Sample

Woo Hoo!  A little productivity this weekend.  I was able to complete the piecing of my version of Atlantic Flyways for my February Class at Yankee Quilter ( www.yankeequilter.com ).  I'm hoping to get it quilted in the evenings this week (might be a challenge) and to drop off. I'm giving a Wing Clipper demo at Yankee Quilter this Saturday.  They have Flying Geese in their Block of the Month and have asked me to come demonstrate how to use the Wing Clipper.  I hope to have the Signs of Autumn Table Runner and Atlantic Flyway completed to show. Stashbuster #2 Turning Up Pumpkins

It is StashBUSTER Tuesday!   Once again, I've partnered up with some fabulous quilt designers for Quilt Block Mania !   I have a bunch to share today; new pattern that is launching, a new class, and a free Block download! NEW PATTERN RELEASE I adore this month's Stashbuster Quilt, Turning Up Pumpkins .   Turning Up Pumpkins You can make this fabulous quilt with stash, scraps, or new  fabric.   The pumpkins are made with 10-11 Fat Quarters. I selected Moda's Fig Tree's All Hallow Eve and then supplemented with a few older Moda Fat Quarters.  The setting blocks are made with yardage; 1 yards darker gray and 1/2 yard lighter gray.  Add 2 yards Background and a fabulous border and you are all set! This is the perfect Fall pattern design, you can use similar-in- color Fat Quarters to make up your Pumpkins (or even Apples) .  You could even go with Halloween theme fabric and make this more of a Halloween quilt.    You don't have to use gray for your setting, as black f

Diamond Delight is twice the delight!

Double the fun with Diamond Delight A and B! Clue #3 has us using (4) of the Holiday Diamond #1 and #2 from Clue #2.  Plus, we are going to use the same fabric that we used in from Clue #1, with one addition.  We are going to select another dark fabric, to create the new to the series technique, Square-in-Square.
