Here we go! Holiday Retreat Clue 1!

Are you Ready?  Here we go!

First, I have a Welcome Video for all of you!  Note: if you are are enrolled in Clue and Class this video is the same as the one in your curriculum.

Second, I've sent an email to everyone who enrolled, from me directly, (Michelle.Hiatt@sewonthego.net) providing you with similar reminders but with actually email notification emails.   Note: Your notification emails come from a different email address.

Okay, so there will be two releases this week.

  1. Clue #1 Pre-Work - With, you guess it, pre-work that needs to take place before you do any cutting for Clue #1.
  2. Clue #1 - Will release tomorrow, August 27th, between 4p-6pm EDT, with your first "Block-work".

Fabric Selection

So, you will need to pull some of your Fat Quarters for your pre-work.  - Very important  that these are cut prior to your Fat Quarters, for Clue #1.

These strips will be used in a later Clue(s). Since we want a Half Width of Fabric (20”-21”) it is important that you cut from Selvage to the edge of the Fat Quarter.

Bag 1 - For the Main Fabric Selection, the Moda Cheer and Merriment, I will be cutting from 15 Assorted Green and Blue Green Fat Quarters. It is great to have a mix of fabric prints.

*For the Alternate Fabric Selection, the Moda Stitched, I will be cutting from 15 Assorted Green, Brown, and Yellow Fat Quarters.  You may opt to add some additional green solids you have in your stash, if you want less browns - not required, I'm using the browns.

Bag 2 - For the Main Fabric Selection, the Moda Cheer and Merriment, I will be cutting from 8 Assorted Red Fat Quarters. Again, it is great to have a mix of fabric prints. You will want this fabric selection to have a high contrast in color to your selection for Bag 1.  If you are using your own fabric, and you do not have Reds, I would use whatever is the opposite side of the color wheel from what you selected for the fabric in Bag 1.

*For the Alternate Fabric Selection, the Moda Stitched, I will be cutting from 6** Assorted Red Fat Quarters.  **This will require that I cut an extra strip from some of my Reds. Alternatively, you could elect to add (2) of your own “stash” red fat quarters to this collection and cut as described.  For example pull two solids from your stash or left over remnants from years past Holiday Medallion quilts.

Here are my final two pulls for my Bag 1 & 2:

Moda's Cheer and Merriment

Moda's Stitched

Now get to cutting, again, make sure that you are cutting from Selvage to the edge of the Fat Quarter.

Make sure to store your strips safely until they are needed in later Clues.

Tune in tomorrow to get tips for Clue #1

Keep Stitching,

Michelle
