Alright, let's get back to this Mystery!

Here is my color selection for this Clue, we need 6 Fabrics, so consider a referring to the color wheel if you are pulling your own fabric, consider 2 split complementary plans.

Fabric Selections

Let's talk tips.  We have a couple repeat unit so just some quick photos on those.

My Unit A - Half Square Triangles
New to the series- The Quarter Square Triangle- With two in the same fabric

Make your first pairs and do not trim them down. I'd mark the Med-Dark as it gets matched with Background and the Medium

Make sure when you are pairing the Half Square Triangle units to make the Quarter Square Unit that you nest and I like to pin it.

Cut them down the center after checking to make sure you are happy with your nesting.  Then I'd swirl the seam.

How cute!

Right Handed When trimming down, make sure that you making sure both the common diagonally and the proper size line are lined up.

Rotate and line up

How TADA!

Left Handed When trimming down, make sure that you making sure both the common diagonally and the proper size line are lined up.

Rotate and line up

Tada!

We've made Square-in-Square before, but this time we need to use dual-color Side Triangles.
So make sure you lay them out properly, you should be putting on 2 of the same fabric first.

Then the two remaining sides get the two from the other fabric.

Trimmed down the same way - Right handed

Left Handed

Same goes for the Diamond Rects, we've made before, but now we need to make them with dual-colored side triangles... a little tricker.

Pay attention to the lay out.  Be sure to sew the proper side triangle on the proper side.  Sew with the Diamond on top.
.
Take time to trim the dog ears

Double check when you go to play your 2nd set on that you have them in the right place.  It matters.

Pressing and trim down will be the same.  Just double check side triangle placement before your trim down.  Right handed above.

Left Handed

The Square-in-Square we've made before and this has all the same side triangles.
Unit E - Both my fabric selections

Next is Block Construction - Be very careful and take it step by step
Put your corner units together first, make sure to pay attention to pressing instructions.

Then the Columns, matching the QST by the swirled pressing helps nest.

Press open that last seam after precision pinning

Lay out your block and double check it!

Precision pin the points.  Check out my pinning above.

Press those seams open and double check again

When you put your rows together, you will need to precision pin again.  Press open.

TADA!  Love Delightful Diamond - Paisley Rose version

Bermuda Batik - So wow!

That wraps up Clue #5!  I can't wait to see your Blocks and hear how you are doing.

For all you moms out there, Happy Mother's Day!

Keep Stitching,
Michelle
