What's Next!

How are you all doing?  Everyone staying safe and well.

Steve and I've been staying well here at home, although we've been baking way more than we should!

I've been trying to keep my mind busy with work, I'm trying to get a pattern finished.  My printer has been closed for a few weeks, but I understand they will be opening back up on May 1st.  So, I'm working hard to get Dogwood Lane Finished.

At the end of last week, I sent 2 quilts off to Island Batik, to be photographed for their Fall Catalog. You will have to wait to see those pictures. So exciting. I shared my infirmal photos with the Studio 180 Design team, as the quilts are using Deb Tucker's new fall line, and the S180 team really liked them. I think you will too. Those quilts will be released as patterns in the Fall. It will be here before we know it!. 😘

Today, I want to cover a few items on Grand Central Mystery Quilt, plus remind you about Tutorial Tuesday, introduce you to an new tool and give you a couple details on the next Mystery!

Grand Central - Call for quilts
Have you seen those Grand Central Quilt Finishes? OMG! Here are just two of my favorites... there are so many I will have to feature a couple each week.

Lillian's Large Throw
Billie's Queen
Please keep posting your completed quilts (or progress) in the Grand Central Facebook Group and the Sew on the Go Quilting Circle, but also email photos of the completed quilt tops, to me, by May 15th.  I'm going to put together slideshow.  Email: michelle.hiatt@sewonthego.net

Questions on the Snail's Trail Border
I received a few questions on the Snail's Trail Border.  Seems some are confused with the putting on the Snail's Trail Border.  It is a little tricky. I've put together an extra diagram, for each quilt, blowing out of the quilt diagram, this may help you.

The Borders are all constructed the same, the diagrams are correct on page 5 of last week's download.  However, once you put together the borders, then you look at the diagrams, to place the Borders on the Center.  Some will rotate a bit to go on.   It seems everyone is use to doing this for the sides, but the Bottom has thrown a few.

Note:  If the Borders are the same, I always construct them the same, then rotate them to apply.  I find I’m more successful rotating the full Border than I am turning individual blocks.

I place the additional handout on the download pageDownload by 4/24/2020

Tool Spotlight!
Check out this new (at least to me) gadget!   You take your used rotary blade (you know I have enough of them) and place it in this BladeSaver Thread Cutter and then use it to cut your thread after chain piecing.  Love it!   Anytime you can recycle something, you got to love it.  Also, I love that they are printed on a 3D printer in California.  I ordered a few in, only purple for now, and placed them in my store. Order them here: BladeSaver Thread Cutter

CLUES & DATES:
There will be 18 Clues including the reveal
The Clues, providing construction steps, will be posted weekly on Friday, from May 22th through September 11th.   Announced through my weekly newsletter or blog.
I built in one “Bye” week and I will do my best to post every Friday, but sometimes life happens, so I want to state up front, there could be a travel week, illness or a family emergency.  Life happens.  So, I will strive for Friday and plan on posting on Friday 99.9% of the time.

The clues will provide the construction task for the week, with step-by-step instructions.

o Each week, you will make either (1) 12” Block or (4) 6” Blocks.
o Each week, you will see more and more of the blocks -- just enough to keep you guessing!
o On the last week, and in Clue #18, you will get the final construction steps and the mystery will be revealed.

The clues are for personal use only and are not to be shared.
The clues will only be up for one week.  You will be responsible to view or download/print your clue each week.  If you missed any clues, you will be able to purchase then for a nominal fee, for a limited time only.
Let me state this up front.  Mystery Quilts are not for everyone.  If you are a person who needs to know what the quilt is going to look upfront, this may not be the project for you.

I think that wraps it up for this week!  Please join me for Tutorial Tuesday!

Keep Stitching and Be Well.
Michelle
