Today we are going to talk about putting a design wall in your sewing studio.  I believe the solution I ended up using, in my recently studio remodel, will work for most of you.  Even those of you that "share" your sewing space with another household need. When I was remodeling my studio, I gave good consideration to the semi-permanent solutions with the insulation boards, etc. that you will find on Pinterest.  However, I followed my own advice and really spent some time thinking about how I wanted to use that space and I determine that I wanted additional functionality. I thought it would be nice, to be able to use the same wall space to display completed quilts when I need to photograph them, as well as for inspiration when I was working on other projects that don't require a design wall (yet). Therefore, I wanted something that is versatile.  Additionally, because of my lower ceilings (7 1/2 foot), I wanted something that would fit snug to the ceiling. ...

Only 3 days to MQX!  Can't wait.  Spent the day finishing up work-work and running errands so I can take time off for MQX.   This is my first time going to MQX and I'm really excited.  Big bonus, I get to meet up with several friends.  My friend Barbara Bregman, the longarmer, is flying up.  My friend Jenn Heasley is driving up from PA tomorrow and we are heading up to New Hampshire, first thing Monday.  Then a few other friends from PA are joining us up there, Jean and Sharon are driving up Tuesday.  Then, several other Studio 180 Design's Certified Instructors are going to be there; Kathy Beltz from NH, Dan Perkins from ME's  Threads Galore , and Sue Graf from ME.  Wow, it is going to be so great. I just got back from a retreat weekend with my fellow Studio 180 Certified Instructors, Deb Tucker, Sue Tucker, and Jeff Tucker. It was a blast! I love the group, everyone has so much energy.  We inspire each other daily via our Facebook private group, but when we are in person, the inspiration vibes are just everywhere!  So much fun. One of the quilts we worked on while we were there was one of Deb's new quilts.  She had us do it as a mystery and test her instructions.  However, she hopes to release it as a regular pattern in the next few months. You can make it scrappy or organized.  Both are stunning.  Deb is currently deciding on a name, but she was leaning toward "Wish Upon" when we left the retreat!  Keep checking my posts for more info! Sew, I have not fallen off the face of the earth, although it seems like that.  It has been a crazy few months between the day job, making samples, illness, cutting my finger, workshops, and most recently attending my Studio 180 Certified Instructors' reunion.  Which was a blast.  It was so great to see my fellow CIs, Deb, Sue and Jeff Tucker. All which makes me feel guilty for not posting more about all the excitement.  So, I'm going to try and get you caught up over the next few days. I'm very excited that I mailed off my Winter Jewels this week to MQX-New Hampshire, it has been accepted in the show.  You may remember I made this over the winter holidays.   LOVE it!  Barbara Bregman quilted it for me and she did a terrfic job. In fact, the mail was just delivered and I found out that it was just accepted in the Vermont Quilt Festival!  Woo hoo. Here are a few pictures of it quilted.
