U2 Star is Clue #12

Love the U2 Star - We once again have an A version and a B version.  Don't you love the different effect one unit being turned makes?

In 2005, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted U2.  Their introduction stated, “Philanthropic.  Hopeful.  Committed.  U2 are proof of the power of music.  While U2 have experimented and evolved musically throughout their career, the core members and their commitment to positive change have remained steady.”

U2, a Irish rock band from Dublin, formed in 1976.  The group consists of Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. Initially rooted in post-punk, U2's musical style evolved throughout it’s career, yet has maintained an anthemic quality built on Bono's expressive vocals and the Edge's chiming, effects-based guitar sounds.  Bono's lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal and sociopolitical themes.  It is theorized that the musical group U2 derived its name from a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft that crashed four days prior to the birth of the lead singer. There is also another possible origin for the band's name, which may be more likely the explanation; A U2 is a form used in Ireland to claim unemployment.

U2 has recorded 15 Studio albums, from 1980 through 2023, releasing their “Songs of the Surrender” album earlier this year.  U2 has 34 total Hot 100 entries, including six top 10s.  U2 is one of the few to have top 40 hits on the charts in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, and 10’s.   U2 has won 22 Grammy Awards, the most among groups, including two each for album (1987, 2005), song (2000, 2005) and record of the year (2000, 2001).  U2’s “With or Without You” peaked at No. 1 in May, 1987 for three weeks, and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” was their other No. 1 in August, 1987 for 2 weeks.  Both were on their “Joshua Tree” Album.

I took my inspiration from “The Joshua Tree”, my favorite album, and placed (4) Joshua Trees (Shaded 4-Patch) in the four corners in both versions of my blocks.

Here is my fabric selections:
